Weir Manuel

Utility Checklist

The procedure for water, gas and electric utilities is that the seller ask for a final reading through the date of possession and also request that the service not be discontinued, but transferred into the name of the purchaser. The purchaser then will make application for these services, which will be uninterrupted.

Water
Like taxes, water service is a lien on the property. Final water bills are often settled at the closing and the new owner usually needs to do nothing. However, some municipalities will only issue a quarterly bill to the resident. In this case, send the bill to your Agent at Weir Manuel and we will pro-rate and disburse the water escrow funds accordingly.
